Tyrol: Austria's region in the sky.

Tyrol: Austria's province in the sky.

Can you name a better place than Tyrol? Whether it's summer or winter Tyrol is home to some of Europes most scenic views. With its highest point being Mount Großglockne (3,797m) it is no surprise that Tyrol is a province in the sky. Tyrol has so much to offer, whether that be majestic mountain peaks, historical landmarks, beautiful blue lakes and plenty of hot spots for tourists looking for an active outdoor holiday. In the cold Winter the region provides some of the best ski resorts in Europe and in the Summer when temperatures are milder, Tyrol has some of the most scenic hikes and pretty lakes which are ideal for water sports and boat rides.  The Achten Lake, which lies north of Jenbach in the south-east of the province is the largest lake in Tyrol and has a maximum depth of 133 metres. With its perfect location in the Achten Valley and size of 6.8km2, this lake is ideal for keen windsurfers- just make sure you bring your wetsuit as the water temperature rarely rises above 20°C.
